Losing one or both parents is traumatic for any child in any situation. In countries where war, famine or poverty are a part of everyday life, millions of children are orphaned and left to struggle for survival.

Islamic Relief has been working with orphans since 1986, and now has projects in over 22 countries across the world. Our One-to-One Sponsorship Programme gives you the chance to support an orphaned child in Asia, Africa, the Middle East or Eastern Europe.

With your help we can give these children the care they need, providing them with food, shelter, healthcare, education and emotional support.

The Holy Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) said:

The orphan sponsorship scheme has been a great success. By the Grace of God, Islamic Relief donors now sponsor over 27,500 orphans worldwide! This has far exceeded our expectations.

To better cope with the high demands and serve the needs of the orphans and of our donors to the best of our abilities, we are currently implementing a new IT system that will enable us to cope with a much larger number of orphans.

While we are implementing the new system, we are temporarily suspending new sponsorships till Jan 2009 to ensure minimal disruption. All your existing sponsored orphans (over 27,500 of them) will continue to benefit from your sponsorship.
